Hue Tap Switch Not Working [Solved!]

Are you having trouble with your Hue Tap Switch? Does it seem like the switch just won’t work no matter what you do? Don’t worry, we’ve got you covered. In this blog post, we’ll cover some of the most common reasons why your Hue Tap Switch isn’t working and how to fix them.

1. Check Broadband Connection

Before proceeding, ensure that your Broadband connection is working properly. If you’re connected to a Virtual Private Network (VPN), make sure to disconnect before troubleshooting the issue. Additionally, it’s important to connect the Philips Hue Bridge to power with the supplied cable to make sure it is powered on.

2. Inspect the Hue Tap Switch

Once you have checked the broadband connection, you should inspect the Hue Tap Switch itself. Make sure that it is securely connected and that there are no loose wires. Check that all the connections are secure and that the batteries are in the correct orientation. If any of these issues exist, make sure to correct them before proceeding with the next steps.

3. Restart and Reconnect the Hue Bridge

After inspecting the Broadband connection and the Hue Tap Switch, it is important to restart and reconnect the Hue Bridge. This can be done by pressing the button with three dots on the back of the bridge for 10 seconds until all lights blink. Then, wait for the bridge to reconnect to your network. Make sure that your Philips Hue App is connected to your bridge.

4. Hold the Button with Three Dots for 10 Seconds

If you’re still having trouble with your Philips Hue Tap Switch, it may be in Setup Mode. To reset the switch, hold down the button with three dots for 10 seconds. This will reset the switch and allow you to configure it again. Be sure to connect it to your Philips Hue Bridge and open the Philips Hue App on your mobile device to start setting up the switch again.

5. Remove

In order to further investigate the issue with your Philips Hue Tap Switch, you should remove the Alexa Skill from the Hue Bridge’s memory. Hold the button with three dots for 10 seconds and check if that fixes the issue. If not, try resetting the Philips Hue Tap Switch or connecting it to another Hue Bridge.

6. Reset the Philips Hue Tap Switch

If you’ve checked both your broadband connection and the Hue Tap Switch, you can try resetting the Philips Hue Tap Switch. Unlike other smart home devices, the Hue Tap Switch doesn’t have a true “factory reset”. Instead, hold down the button with three dots on the front of the switch for 10 seconds until the light blinks orange. Once it does, your switch is now connected and ready to be used again!

7. Connect to Another Hue Bridge

If the issue persists, try connecting your Hue Tap Switch to another Hue Bridge. It could be that the issue is with your current bridge, so it’s worth giving another one a go. To do this, open the Philips Hue app on your mobile device and tap on Settings. Then tap on Accessories Setup and right click on the Philips Tap image. After that, you should be able to reset and connect the switch to your new bridge.

8. Open Philips Hue App on Mobile Device

In order to continue troubleshooting the Philips Hue Tap switch, you should next open the Philips Hue app on your mobile device. Once you have done so, tap on Settings and Accessories Setup, and then right click on the Philips Tap image. This should help you determine whether or not the tap switch is properly connected to your Wi-Fi network.

9. Tap on Settings and Accessories Setup

Once you have opened the Philips Hue app on your mobile device, you can then tap on “Settings” and “Accessory Setup”. This will allow you to access the Philips Tap Switch and check if it is working properly. Right-clicking on the Philips Tap image will bring up additional options to help troubleshoot any issues you may be facing.

10. Right Click on Philips Tap Image

To further troubleshoot the issue, try right clicking on the Philips Tap image and clicking on “Inspect”. Check to see if the class is disabled and, if so, remove it. Once done, clear the cache and storage and restart the device. This should fix any issues you may be having with your Philips Hue Tap switch.
