How to Reset Sonos Play 1

Are you having trouble connecting your Sonos Play 1? Don’t worry, we’ve got you covered. In this blog post, we’ll walk you through the simple steps to resetting your Sonos Play 1. So let’s get started!

1. Unplug the Sonos Speaker

To begin the reset process, you’ll need to unplug the power cord from the outlet. Unplugging the power cord from your Sonos Play:1 is an important first step in the reset process. Make sure to disconnect the power cord from both the outlet and the speaker itself. Once the power cord is disconnected, you’ll be ready to move on to the next step.

2. Hold Down the Play/Pause Button

Once the power cord is disconnected, the next step is to hold down the Play/Pause button. This button is located on the top of the speaker. Depending on which model of Sonos Play:1 you have, you may need to press and hold the Mute button as well. For the Play:5 (gen 2) speaker, you’ll need to hold down both the Play/Pause button and the Join button. Make sure to keep holding down these buttons until you hear a chime or beep indicating that the reset has been successful.

3. Click and Keep Holding Play/Pause Key

The next step to resetting your Sonos Play 1 is to click and hold the Play/Pause button. This button is located on the top of the speaker and allows you to pause and play the music. Make sure you keep your finger on this button until the reset is complete. After 10 seconds, release all buttons and plug the electrical cord back in. Then, don’t take your finger off the button until the reset is complete.

4. Press and Hold the Mute Button

Once you’ve held down the play/pause button, the next step is to press and hold the mute button. This is located on the back of the speaker and you’ll need to press and hold it for at least 10 seconds. When you do this, you’ll notice a small light glowing red which will go off once you’ve held the button for long enough. Make sure to keep holding the button until it has been reset completely. After this, release all buttons and you can now proceed to plug the electrical cord back in.

5. Hold Down the Join Button

If your Sonos Play 1 does not have a Join button, press and hold the Mute button instead. Keep your finger on the button for at least five seconds. Once you have done this, your Sonos Play 1 will be reset and ready to be used with your home system.

6. Hold Down the Pause or Join Button

Once the power cord is disconnected, you’ll want to press and hold down the Join button ( ♾ or ➡⬅ ), Play/Pause button, or Connect button, depending on your Sonos product. Make sure to keep holding it down while plugging the power cord back into the wall outlet. Once the power cord is plugged back in, keep holding down the button for at least 10 seconds. This will reset your Sonos Play 1 speaker and clear any data that may be causing it to malfunction.

7. Continue Holding Down the Button

Once you’ve pressed and held down the Play/Pause button for 10 seconds, you can then press and hold the Mute or Join button (♾ or ➡⬅). Make sure to keep holding down both buttons until a small light on the device glows red and then goes off. This indicates that the reset is in progress. Once the light turns off, you can release both buttons, unplug the speaker, plug it back in, and your Sonos Play 1 will be reset to factory settings and ready to hook up to your account and home system.

8. After 10 Seconds, Release All Buttons

Once you have held the Play/Pause button, the Mute button, and the Join button for 10 seconds you can release all of the buttons. Make sure to not take your finger off the Play/Pause button until the reset is complete. If you release the Play/Pause button too early, the reset won’t be successful. After releasing all of the buttons, you can plug the electrical cord back in and wait for your Sonos Play 1 to reboot.

9. Plug the Electrical Cord Back In

Once all the buttons have been released and you are ready to reset your Sonos Play 1, plug the power cord back into either the wall outlet or the Sonos speaker itself. Make sure to fully insert the cord so that it is secure and won’t come loose during the reset process. After the power cord is securely in place, you will be ready to go for the next step of resetting your Sonos Play 1.

10. Don’t Take Your Finger Off The Button Until Reset Is Complete

Once you have plugged the electrical cord back in and held down the Join button, you should not take your finger off the button until the reset is complete. The light on the speaker will flash white/orange to show that it is resetting. This process can take up to 10 seconds, so make sure to remain patient and not take your finger off the button until the reset is complete. After the light has stopped flashing white/orange, your Sonos Play 1 has been successfully reset. Now you can enjoy all the music you want in every corner of your home with a Sonos Play 1 speaker.
