Press Home Button on LG Remote
To close an app on your LG TV, start by pressing the Home button on the remote of your device. This will take you to the Home screen, where you can select the app you want to close. Once you have selected the app, hover the pointer over the X or trash can icon at the top left corner of the screen. This will bring up a list of all the apps running in the background. Scroll through this list and select the app card you want to close by swiping it upward. You can also hit the Home button again to view the list of apps you can open. To close all recent apps at once, press and hold down the Back button (for web OS 5.0) and tap an app to use it.

The next step is to select the application name at the top left corner of the screen. Select this using the remote control to display the Close icon. From the Home screen, tap the Apps icon (in the QuickTap bar), then tap the Apps tab, if necessary. Tap the Menu icon (at the upper-right corner of the screen), and scroll through the list, then tap an App to view info. You can then close it by tapping Clear Cache…. These files can safely be removed from your device. Once you have done this, press the Home button to display the Home Menu and a message for the small screen will be displayed.
Hover Pointer Over X/Trash Can
Once you’ve selected the application you want to close, hover your pointer over the X or trash can icon to close it. You can also scroll through the list of apps, and swipe each app card upward to close it. For older LG TV models, you may need to press and hold down the Back button (Web OS 5.0) or Menu Key to access the options available for the current app or feature. By tapping an app, you’ll be able to use it and hit the Home button to list all the apps you can open. To exit or stop apps, use the Recent Apps screen. You can also clear all running background apps by pressing the “” button on your remote control and selecting Quit App.

Once you have selected the application name at the top left corner of the screen, you’ll be able to scroll through a list of all the apps running in the background. To close an app, hover your pointer over it and swipe the app card upward. Doing this will close the app and free up memory on your LG TV. If you want to close all recent apps, you can tap to do so.

Once you have the list of apps up, you can select the one you want to close. To close all recent apps, tap the ‘X’ button at the top left corner of the screen. You can also hover your pointer over the ‘X’ or trash can icon to get a list of all apps that are currently running in the background. Swipe each app card upward to close them one by one or tap ‘Clear All’ to close all running background apps. On WebOS 5.0, hold down the back button and tap an app to use it. Hit the home button to list all apps that you can open.

For LG Smart TV users who have WebOS 5.0, you can use the back button for exiting and stopping apps. To do this, press and hold the back button on your remote control for at least five seconds. This will cause the TV to exit the app and return to the home screen. If you want to stop all running background apps, press and hold the home button on your remote control for at least five seconds to open the recent apps screen. Swipe each app to the left or right off the screen to close it.
Tap an App to Use It
Once your app list is visible, you can quickly switch between the apps you currently have open on your LG TV. Simply scroll through the list, and then tap on the app you want to use. You can also use the arrow keys on your remote to navigate to a particular application that you wish to open. With just a few clicks, you can easily switch between your favorite apps.

Once you have pressed the Home button on your remote control, you will be presented with a list of apps that you can open. You can use the arrow keys on your remote to scroll through this list and find the app that you want to open. With each app presented in the list, there is an icon that you can press to open the app. Once you have opened an app, you can then use the back button on your remote to exit it. You can also close any apps that are running in the background by pressing and holding the back button for about 5 seconds. This will terminate any apps that are currently running in the foreground and recent apps.
To Exit or Stop Apps: Use Recent Apps Screen
For LG TVs, the best way to close or exit apps is to use the Recent Apps screen. To access this screen, press and hold the Home key on your LG remote, then swipe left or right through the list of apps to find the one you want to stop. You can also use the Wheel (OK) button or select Recents at the bottom of the home screen. Once you’ve located the app, press up and click the ‘x’ at the top of the app card. You can also swipe up on the app card itself to close it. If you’re using Web OS 5.0, simply hold down the back button and tap an app to use it or hit the home button to see a list of apps that you can open.
Clear All Running Background Apps
If you have several programs open and you want to speed up the deactivation process, closing all of them, click on the Clear All button at the bottom of the Recent apps screen. To close all background apps, go to settings, OLED Care, Device Self Care then memory optimizer and run it. On older Android TVs, you can go to Home > Apps to close apps or Force stop the app in Settings > Apps. To quit an Android TV app, go to Settings > Apps, choose the app, and select Force stop. Finally, to close an app, select the X icon located on the desired app or select Clear All to exit all apps.
